Biography

Dominic Downs is a prize-winning pianist, conductor and composer who has already attracted national recognition, featuring on BBC One and being praised for his performances in various reviews. He has performed 27 solo concerts in the 2024/25 season during which he was selected to appear in concert with Stephen Osbourne and he has a fully booked recital calendar for 2026/27.

Initially a student at Chetham’s School of Music, Dominic studied piano, jazz piano, composition and conducting before graduating to the Royal Northern College of Music where he continues his piano studies under Dr Murray McLachlan Dominic has received guidance from leading pianists such as Martin Roscoe and Peter Donohoe among others and in 2023, he was awarded a composition scholarship to the Royal College of Music before starting his studies at RNCM.

Alongside performing, Dominic maintains a thriving teaching practice, leads masterclasses and serves as Music Director of the Lancaster Millennium Choir which won a competition under his direction. He also collaborates with the ADHD Foundation to promote awareness of neurodiversity and is currently preparing his debut album.
